JESS LAUNCHES APPG FOR WOMEN AND WORK REPORT

Yardley MP Jess Phillips, in her role as co-chair, helped launch the annual report of the Women and Work APPG on 'Making the Industrial Strategy work for women'.
 
In January 2017, the 'Building our Industrial Strategy' Green Paper set out the Government's aim to build a policy which would address long-term challenges to the UK economy. However it did not address issues relating to gender inequality in the workplace.
 

JESS SPEAKS IN PAROLE BOARD AND VICTIM SUPPORT STATEMENT

Yardley MP Jess Phillips has made a commitment, by signing the TUC ‘Dying to Work' charter, to support and protect any of their employees who become terminally ill.
 
Since its launch in April 2016, The TUCs ‘Dying to Work’ Voluntary Charter now protects over half a million employees with companies such as Legal and General, Santander, Co-Op, Carillion, Rolls Royce and the Royal Mail joining E.On and signing up along with a number of public sector bodies including NHS trusts, police authorities and many local authorities.

Jess secured the debate due to the proposed 'supported housing' funding reforms which threaten to dismantle the life-saving national network of refuges and threaten to put the lives of women and children trying to escape domestic abuse at risk.

Yardley MP Jess Phillips attended the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Beer's tasting event in Parliament.
 
The event was hosted by Labour MP Ruth Smeeth, and a wide selection of beers and accompanying foods were on offer for MPs and guests to try.

Yardley MP Jess Phillips attended a Women's Aid reception in the Speaker's House in Parliament.
 
The reception provided an opportunity for Women's Aid and other domestic violence sector agencies to discuss the critical importance of tackling domestic violence and abuse and supporting survivors of this shocking crime.
