Yardley MP Jess Phillips attended the launch of the Business Liaison Officer for constituency Labour partys (CLPs).
Many Labour members own or run small businesses, work in medium and large sized companies and hold senior management positions throughout the business community, which is why Labour is the natural party of business.
This is why CLPs are being invited to appoint their own Business Liaison Officer (BuLO). Some of the responsibilities a BuLO will undertake include feeding into Labour's Policy Forum on business issues, organising business roundtables to find out what local businesses want from the party and inviting business leaders to meet with local representatives.
Jess Phillips MP said:
"This new iniative will help us to have conversations with the business community about how we can create jobs and prosperity for all. I will be speaking to my own CLP about the best person to be our local Business Liaison Officer."
Hamish Sandison, Chair of Labour Business said:
"It's time to bust the myth that the Tories are the party of business. With a Business Liaison Officer in every CLP, we can show it's Labour that's the natural party of business."
